Buddy Day #2
The second of four yearly Buddy Days took place this past week, when once again US students partnered with LS children, this time featuring a literacy activity. Each LS grade level decided what would be most appropriate for their students. For example, the fifth grade buddies are the 9th graders, and they worked on a “Mad Libs” activity in which the stories centered around autumn. The students had to interview each other and follow the story guidelines that asked for nouns, verbs, adverbs, etc. Then the students read the story using the words they chose. The stories turned out very silly and fun! Second grade students and their US buddies got to know each other better by using Venn diagrams to uncover their similarities and differences; kindergartners wrote things they are thankful for on feathers to decorate on turkeys; senior buddies read to the PreK4 children. These special days illustrate the wonderful interaction between generations only found in a PreK-12 school such as CSN.
